Volleyball Rules
1.0 Teams:
1-1. Each team is to have six (6) players. A team may play with just four (4) players.
1-2. A minimum of one (1) male and two (2) females must be on the court
1-3. Any team with less than four(4) players to start will forfeit that game.
1-4. The recorded score will be 25-0
1-5. The net is to be 7’4 1/8” from floor.
1-6. When the ball is served, players must be in their rotational order. Side-to-side and front-to-back relationships of players must be maintained until the serve is contacted.
1.7 Churches with more than 1 team may not move players from team to team after the third week of play. Anyone needing to move a player from one roster to another must report change to director one week prior to player being able to play on new roster.
2.0 Rotation and Substitutes:
2-1. A Substitute may replace any player when the ball is dead, provided the player has reported to the referee and received permission.
2-2 Substitutions must be , male for male, and female for female.
2-3 Choice of playing area or service at the start of a match is determined by a coin toss. After each game the teams alternate who serves first. When teams are tied in the number of games won the first serve in the tie breaker will be determined by a coin toss.
2-4 The player in the right back position makes the serve and continues as the server until side-out is called. After side-out is called, an opponent becomes the server.
2-5 Each member of a team, on receiving the ball for service, rotates clockwise one position and remains in this positions until side-out has been called on an opponent’s serve. When a game is completed, teams change courts, and alterations in rotation of players may be made at this time.
2-6 The server must stand entirely outside the court in the service area until the bal is struck. The server must hit the ball with one hand clearly over the net so as to not touch the net.
A. The serve to be called by the Referee.
B. In the case of a player not able to clear the net due to physical reasons, Said player may step into court no more then 3 feet and serve from there.
3.0 Returning the ball
3.1 A return may be hit in any direction.
3.2 A player may use any part of the body above ( including) the waist to hit the ball. A ball must rebound immediately from body part, resulting as one contact. The ball may not be held, carried.
3.3 A return that passes over that part of the net between the net posts or their imaginary extensions is in play even if the ball touches the top of the net while in flight.
3.4 A return may be recovered from the net, provided the player does not come in contact with the net.
3.5 After once contacting the ball, said player may not make contact with ball again till touched by another player.
3.6 There is to be NO blocking a serve. The ball is to clear the net and be on a downward motion.
4.0 Backline Players
4.1 Backline players may not take part in blocking
4.2 May not Spike from the attack area, but may from behind the attack line.
5.0 Infractions
If any member of the team commits any of the listed infractions, 1 point is credited to the other team.
5.1 Serving illegally or out of turn
5.2 Catching, holding, or lifting the ball or failing to make a legal return.
5.3 Touching the ball twice in succession, except following a block.
5.4 Contacting the net. A player is not considered to have contact with net if a hard driven ball causes it to touch a player.
5.4 a If a player from each team make contact with net at same time, both will be called for infraction with no point called resulting in re-serve.
5.5 touching a ball more then three (3) times without proper return.
5.6 A players foot completely touches floor on the opposite side of the centerline.
5.7 Reaching under the net and intentionally or unintentionally interfering with the play of the ball.
5.8 Violating substitutions or time our regulations
5.9 Unnecessary delay of game play
6.0 Time outs
6.1 Each team will have two (2) 45second time outs per game.
6.2 There will be a two ( 2) minute break to which sides between games.
7.0 Scoring
7.1 Failure of receiving team to properly and legally return ball to serving team.
7.2 A team scores 15 points. ( a team must win by 2)
7.3 A forfeited game is 15-0
7.4 Standings will be done by win/loss, with tie broken by total points scored.
8.0 Fellowship rules
8.1 Maintain a Christ-like Attitude on and off the court.
8.2 Disrespect of any kind deemed by the league can result in suspend ion or dismissal from League.
8.3 players should actively attend your church. Each Church will set their guidelines for what is “active“.
8.3a A church may use players from another Church so long as they can , 1) show they attend church. And 2) do not attend a Church presently in This League.
